The Dun Cow, New York, North Shields

According to Piggotts Directory of 1822 and Parson and White's of 1828 there was an inn named the Dun Cow in Preston Township with a landlord named George Lowes. Mr. Lowes was also a blacksmith.

No further references have come to light of this establishment although there was a Dun Cow in the nearby village of New York. This village is just outside the boundary of Preston Township so it is likely that the inn referred to in the directories is this one.
